Shabbat times by country
How these times are calculated
Candle lighting in New York is 18 minutes before sunset, the most common custom in the Diaspora; each city follows its own custom, shown on its page. Havdalah (the end of Shabbat) is set at nightfall, when the sun is 8.5° below the horizon.
Every calculation is made at sea level and rounded the cautious way: candle lighting toward the earlier minute, Havdalah toward the later one. Spellings vary between communities (Shabbat, Shabbos, Shabbath, Chabbat); they all mean the same day.
